The Fifth God books are epic fantasy book series written by Dalibor Kovačec. So far it consists of two books: Black Dragons and Magic Of The Soul, but a third is on the way. As the author, crafting the journey of Janosh the Mountain has been an incredibly personal experience, one rooted in finding the extraordinary within the ordinary.

How Janosh’s Story Began
When I first imagined Janosh, I knew I wanted a hero who felt real. His story starts, like so many in L’ven, in hardship: an orphan, alone, struggling through a life that is anything but kind. Janosh’s sheer strength and quiet determination set him apart, driving him to make a future he can be proud of.
orging a Warrior
From the very first chapter, Janosh’s entry into the royal army is more than a plot point; it’s a rite of passage. As I wrote his training and battles, I wanted readers to feel the weight of each sword swing, the risk and the victory. He learns quickly, driven by necessity and an inner resolve, gradually proving himself in the heat of battle.
A Hero’s Rise Amid Chaos
The turning point comes during a brutal confrontation where Janosh saves the king’s life. I wanted this moment to feel raw and earned, not just handed to a chosen hero. Granting Janosh the title of count is more than a reward—it thrusts him into the deadly world of power, politics, and expectation.
The Challenge of Leadership
Writing Janosh’s return to Dragonia as a nobleman was a study in transition. He must balance the loyalty of his people with the realities of ruling, navigating expectations from those he once called neighbors. Ruling is not simply a privilege—it is a crucible that tests his every belief and decision.
Unexpected Guests and Temptations
Just as Janosh begins to understand leadership, disaster far away sends refugees into Dragonia. Their queen, resilient and beautiful, shakes up everything Janosh thought he knew about duty and desire. I wanted the arrival of these newcomers to force Janosh, and readers, to reckon with the complexities of compassion and ambition.
The Heart’s Dilemma
The romantic tension between Janosh, the king’s daughter, and the foreign queen pulses at the heart of this saga. Both women bring opportunities and risks, but more than that, they symbolize the divergent paths Janosh could take. Writing these relationships is some of the most rewarding work I do, asking what truly matters: ove, power, safety, or legacy.
Shadows of Ancient Evil
As Janosh navigates new loyalties and loves, the threat of Hagala and the return of the Fifth God loom in every chapter. The challenge is making Janosh’s personal struggles mirror the epic threat facing his world. He is strong and skilled, but at his core he remains vulnerable—which, to me, is true heroism.
A Saga of Grit and Hope
Writing the Fifth God books means weaving together drama, danger, and the relentless hope embodied by Janosh. His choices, failures, and victories are shaped by a world on the brink of destruction, but always grounded in the kind of lived experience that I, as the author, am passionate about sharing with readers. Each new book brings Janosh—and those who journey with him—closer to the ultimate test of courage and heart
